If your crib is painted, then we recommend priming and painting over it with 1 coat of AFM Transitional Primer and 2 coats of AFM Zero VOC paint. AFM Hardseal was designed specifically to block VOC emissions from finishes beneath it with a glossy finish. While these are both non-toxic products, they are both durable, they are not edible. If your child is chewing on the railings, we recommend a food grade oil finish such as AFM Naturals Oil. This can only be applied over freshly sanded wood.
