It depends what you are coating specifically and what your intent is. Silacote paint was designed to go over concrete and masonry (Block, Brick, Chimneys, Clay, Concrete (Roof Tiles and Unsealed, Masonry, Stone, Stucco, Surfaces: Porous, Tile: Unglazed).
