Will this adhere to semi-gloss paint? The previous owners of our home used semi-gloss on the ceiling in some areas. I hate it and I am wanting to switch to eggshell of matte. I am hoping to find a non-toxic solution that does not require us having sand and retexture the ceilings. Would this work or do you have another product you would recommend? Thanks! The Transitional Primer is the best product for your project. For the best bond, we would recommend you lightly sand the semi gloss area if possible. That said, you could buy a sample of the Transitional Primer and try it out on the semi gloss textured ceiling as-is/without sanding to see if it bonds well. If you get a good bond (primer stays in place/does not flake off after drying), then you can go to town and primer your ceiling as-is and cover up with AFM's Zero VOC paint in whichever sheen you like (in descending order of non Semi-Gloss sheen; Pearl, Eggshell or Flat).
