Hello Alan, Thanks for your question. Yes Silacote paint can be used over Venetian plaster, that is an acceptable substrate.Venetian Plaster typically is plaster mixed with marble dust, or basically a lime or lime-cement plaster. As such it is compatible with Silacote. This is taken from our technical specs - "--Waterborne full-matt one-component silicate paint for exterior and interior painting of concrete, lime plaster, cement plaster, lime-cement plaster, and sand-lime brick surfaces, drywall, GFRC and magboard. Suitable for surfaces previously painted with silicate, lime, lime-cement and cement paints.--" It's always best to test a small area before use to check for compatibility and adhesion. As long as an organic sealer, such as wax or acrylic, hasn't been used to burnish the surface there shouldn't be a problem.
