I am multi chemical sensitive. A year ago I purchased a solid pine Ikea cabinet that is stained and coated with a clear acrylic lacquer. The smell inside the cabinet remains so strong that I don't trust storing items inside it. Would painting AFM SafeCoat, Hard Seal over the acrylic lacquer eliminate the smell? As long as it's water based, yes. Hard Seal dries to a gloss finish and is designed to seal off gassing. Might I also recommend Acrylacq? It's perfect for furniture and gives you choices (Gloss, Satin, Matte) of sheen. You might want to treat the inside of the cabinet too.
