I purchased a dishwasher I was told had the bitumen noise buffer encapsulated. However, it is open and had a smell. Will this work? Is it safe to use on the exterior of an appliance? Bitume is like a rubber looking asphalt material.

Bitumen is smelly for sure. Two coats of AFM Dynoseal should be able to seal it as we use this to seal other asphalt chemicals. Dynoseal is applied with a brush and should bond well but because this is an out of the box application, we recommend testing this first with a small sample. AFM SafeSeal will not work.
