Would this sealer need to be reapplied after a period of years, or is it essentially permanent? (Our application would be a vanity in a small, half bath - to stop off gassing from the mdf/ particle board.) Thx.

It would be unlikely that you would need to reapply the sealer. For most residential settings of furniture, reapplication is not needed. To stop off-gassing of VOCs, we recommended 3 coats of AFM HardSeal. This provides 96.8% formaldehyde emission reduction. Unless the finish was removed for some reason, it would continue to be effective in stopping the off gassing for many years to come.
