While countertops are not included on the official usage for AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP (made chiefly for floors), we have had customers use it for countertops with some success. It could work for you to add a level of sheen to your dull countertop if applied and maintained correctly to a wood or painted wood countertop. Beyond following the application instructions, we at Green Building Supply recommend:- If a painted countertop, be sure your paint is water-based and completely dry before adding Polyureseal BP over top it. - 4 coats, minimum. For the clearest visual your first coat(s) should be Gloss sheen, then finish with whatever sheen you want your countertop to end with. Not following this procedure will give your finish a hazy/milky look. - ALWAYS use a cutting board to cut food on and trivets for hot pots (never cut directly on your countertop) - Remove water/condensation promptly from under flatware and glasses, or use coasters, placemats, etc. - Food oils or acid spills must be cleaned up quickly - Do not expect your polyuresealed countertop to perform like quartz or stone - For cleaning use a mild all-purpose cleaner like SafeChoice, Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser or Blissfully Clean.
