AFM Safecoat Hard Seal will encapsulate off-gassing from formaldehyde but it will not encapsulate organic odors, like mold. It can be applied over raw wood. If the wood has previously been sealed with an oil based sealer, Hard Seal will not adhere and it will not work.A sample size is 4 oz. Two or three coats of Hard Seal are recommended. A 4 oz. sample is enough for 2 coats over a 5 sf area. So it depends on the size of your easels whether or not a sample size would cover everything.
