If you will NOT be cutting on the butcher block and your children are NOT chewing on the edges of your counters, and you just want a clear topical coating that is easy to wipe off after, we would recommend using Bioshield's AquaResin Floor Finish or AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP which are both non-toxic polyurethanes. These are not edible and therefore we do not recommend cutting on them. However, they do provide a nice hard coating that will hold up for many years.
