Best practice is to test to make sure The AFM SafeCoat Transitional Primer has good adhesion to the previously painted or stained surface. Let it dry 24 hours and then try to scratch off with a coin or your fingernail. If it comes off easily, you will need to lightly sand/abrade the surface first before priming.
