Yes. AFM Safecoat Naturals Clear Penetrating Oil will readily soak into most wood surfaces as long as they are porous and unfinished/unsealed. Buffing or burnishing oil into the grain of the wood is an excellent technique for closing the pores and creating and even better seal. However, it requires elbow grease or a good buffing machine to make short work of a potentially laborious process. The more porous the surface, the faster the oil will absorb. Heat and dryness will help absorption. Humidity and cool temps will slow dry times considerably. After the first coat soaks in, apply a second coat and usually within a 1/2 to 1 hour most of the oil will absorb. Then wipe off any excess. Then buff. If you don't wipe off the excess, bugs may have an opportunity to get into it. This whole sequence happens so fast, it is unlikely any bugs will be ready to pounce that quickly on your beautiful woodwork.
