Would AFM SafeCoat Hard Seal be the right product to use on a new mirror that's painted frame I suspect is made on MDF?

Hard Seal would work great to seal in VOCs from MDF or the paint if that is your concern, but it will leave a gloss finish. If you would like a different sheen, we recommend AFM Safecoat Acrylacq, which comes as Matte, Satin or Gloss.
