If the cabinets were painted with a water-based paint, you can seal and protect them with AFM Hard Seal.Hard Seal has a gloss sheen. If you want your choice of a matte, satin, or gloss sheen sealer over water-based paint, then use Acrylacq.If the cabinets were painted with an oil-based paint, you need to use a primer product like Zinsser B-I-N Shellac that will adhere to the oil-based paint. Then you can follow it with either Hard Seal or Acrylacq to seal in the VOCs from the shellac.
