AFM Naturals Oil Wax finish is a penetrating sealer. That means it soaks into the wood. If the finish is completely warn off, then no sanding is required. However, if there is still some finish on the surface, the oil will not soak in. It will sit and dry on the surface and look terrible. After the second coat has soaked into the wood, you can buff with a soft nylon pad (white) or burnish with a 250-350 grit sandpaper (aluminum oxide wet/dry). Sanding will melt the wax and force the sawdust into the grain sealing the floor even better. If buffed or sanded after, rugs can be applied the next day. Otherwise, you may need to wait 4-5 days until the oil has fully cured on the surface.
