I've read that appliances (refrigerator, range) sitting on floating cork flooring can dent the floor. Some places I've read that 1/4" plywood should be under appliances, other places say furniture pads are sufficient. What do you recommend?

Furniture pads are sufficient as they are made for this and they distribute the weight well without hurting the floor. Cork has a memory and the dents usually bounce back after several days. Also, once an appliance is removed, a new one usually takes its place.
