Can/Should your product, AFM Safecoat Hard Seal, be used to seal in off gassing formaldehyde on new hardwood furniture? I purchased a writing desk online. The box said the desk was manufactured in Vietnam. The wooden desk wreaks of VOC fumes! Thank you for your reply.

You can use Hard Seal for the purpose of sealing in formaldehyde. Provided the desks current coating is water based and NOT oil based (or it's raw wood), and you like a gloss finish. If you would prefer a different sheen and a product with more abrasion resistance, we would recommend AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP instead for sealing in formaldehyde. You can purchase samples online of these products to test for adhesion and finish.
