I applied this to some cedar but don't like how it changed the color. The amber tone is too dark. Could I apply a Rubio monocoat stain over it or do I need to sand it down first?

Yes, you could apply Rubio Oil Plus 2C indoors or Rubio Hybrid for outdoors. However, it's hard to know just what that will look like without testing first. We suggest ordering a small sample first to see how they blend together. Samples are available on our website. You may need to lightly sand the surface first to open the pores. Testing will help you figure this out.
