Polyureseal BP is similar to epoxy in that it gives surfaces a look like it was encased in a thin layer of plastic. Unlike epoxy, this needs to be layered like a sealer/paint.It is not recommended to paint laminate. However, people who have still done it have first done a mild sanding of the laminate to give it a bit of a grip and then cleaned it well. Then, they have used AFM Safecoat Transitional Primer, AFM Safecoat Zero VOC Paint and then the AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP as the final coats. We sell sample sizes of all these products, and recommend you do your own testing first to establish this gets you the look and feel you love before committing to your entire project.NOTE: While countertops are not included on the official usage for Polyureseal BP (made chiefly for floors), we have had customers use it for countertops with some success. It could work for you if applied and maintained correctly to your painted countertop. Beyond following the application instructions, we at Green Building Supply recommend: - 4 coats, minimum - Always use a cutting board to cut food on and trivets for hot pots (never cut directly on your countertop) - Remove water/condensation promptly from under flatware and glasses, or use coasters, placemats, etc. - Food oils or acid spills must be cleaned up quickly - Do not expect your polyuresealed coated countertop to perform like quartz or stone - For cleaning use a mild all-purpose cleaner like SafeChoice, Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser or Blissfully Clean Good luck!
