If you wish to remove the toxic odors associated with that paint, we recommend either sanding it off and then using our AFM Polyureseal BP, or using our AFM Transitional Primer, then two coats of AFM Zero VOC paint with the Polyureseal over the top of that. Additional abrasion resistance can be gained by adding our AFM Polyureseal BP which is a very durable clear topical polyurethane. The primer is the only product that will transition from oil to water and must be used first. Unfortunately none of the AFM SafeCoat water based sealers, including AFM SafeCoat Hard Seal, are appropriate or recommended directly over the top of an oil based paint like rust oleum as they will not adhere well and peel off.
