I just bought a piece of furniture that smells like it has recently been spray painted. I want to coat it with something good-safe so that it not only seals in the VOCs but also maintains durability as I plan to use it in my dining room. What product would you recommend for painted wood?

We recommend AFM SafeCoat Acrylacq. It's the most appropriate sealer for furniture, cabinets, doors, trim, baseboards, etc. It comes in a matte or gloss sheen and each gallon would cover approximately 350 square feet. For the purpose of encapsulating odors three thin coats is recommended with 4-6 hours drying time between coats. Make sure the surface has been lightly sanded or de-glossed so there is some tooth to the surface.
