Yes, AFM Safecoat Hard Seal can block emissions from formaldehyde on an MDF Masonite hollow core door. If there are other coatings on the surface, it will also work over them but it will leave a gloss finish. If you have further questions, you may contact an eco-advisor at 800-405-0222 9-5PM CST.
