This is the first time I have been asked about acoustic ceiling tile, so I checked in with AFM directly. They recommend doing AFM Transitional Primer followed with Zero VOC Paint in the Pearl sheen - this has the best encapsulation properties.If the tiles are already painted with a water based paint, you could just do the Hard Seal over that, but we would recommend testing first to make sure you get a good bond and like the gloss appearance on your ceiling. If you wanted to do a different sheen on your ceiling, give Acriglaze Matte a test.We have sample sizes on all of these products for testing purposes.
