Looking at buying a home with knotty pine paneling, flooring, and cabinets. The previous owner smoked and the smell is lingering throughout the home. We suspect they were stained with an oil based product, along with an oil based polyurethane finish. Is there anything we can do to encapsulate the smell?

We do not sell any products meant to stick to oil based stains/finishes. Also, we have nothing for smoke smell. You will need to go to a box store and buy Zinsser Sealcoat Waxless Shellac to use as it is meant to stick to oils and also is said to seal in scents such as smoke (clarify with them on that scent issue first). Then, use the AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP over that to encapsulate the toxins from the Zinsser.
