Is this an interior door or an exterior door? Hard Seal is graded to work in the context of interior structures only, and would not hold up to an exterior environment. Also, Hard Seal can also only be applied over water-based paints. So if the door was previously coated in a oil-based paint, the Hard Seal may fail. You could order a sample and test for adhesion and bonding. A safer course would be to repaint your door with AFM SafeCoat Transitional Primer (transitional means that it can work over water-based or oil-based finishes) and then go over that with (if an exterior door) Exterior Satin Paint or (if an interior door) Zero VOC Paint. The primer and paint would work in conjunction to encapsulate your painted door and stop chemical off-gassing.
