I have an untreated IPE deck in Northern CA near the coast, gets foggy but burns off mid morning, I have Rubio Monocoat 5" white inside my house and love it, really want to use the Rubio exterior in Look Ipe - my question is do I need to power wash my deck prior to using the Rubio exterior wash? And will the look ipe look very similar to how the ipe looks now ? View answer

I am putting in a western red cedar tongue and groove ceiling in our campervan: approximately 6' wide and 10'long. How much might I need (wondering if I should get smaller cans vs. The larger ones) and is this the best product to use for this application? It will encounter moisture from cooking (although we do have fans) Thanks! View answer

I have a teak outdoor couch from CB2 (search Naya Sectional online) that has started to turn grey. I am looking for alternatives to "teak oil" which apparently doesn't work that well. However, I know that teak is a special wood because it has so much oil naturally in it. Can I use the Rubio Hybrid Exterior Wood protector on this couch, and what color would you recommended to help preserve the golden color? "teak" color? View answer

The original flooring in my historic (1923) house is red pine, very common in this neighborhood (Fairmont district, Fort Worth TX). We uncovered it a year ago and it looks like most areas were not finished but simply covered. I really like the hand rubbed Matt look and nontoxic aspects of Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus. Would this be a good stain and sealer for these floors? View answer

How do you compare this product (Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector) and Bioshield Penetrating Oil Sealer? I am looking to use something to reseal and protect my exterior eucalyptus wood furniture that has had some lacquer finish in the past but is capable of accepting oils at this time. The furniture company itself recommends a linseed or teak oil (but a generic one with chemicals of course). View answer

I got samples of the Natural and Teak. Looking for something that would give UV protection but also keep the cedar outdoor furniture looking close to the way cedar looks naturally. Do you think the Natural, being fairly light, gives enough UV protection? Or should we try mixing another shade in? I would assume the darker the shade, the more protection. But, is the Natural enough protection to last say for a year? The Vermont Natural cedar stain has too much orange tone for our taste. It would be great if their company developed more colors. This furniture is in shade a good bit and sun during varying parts of the day. View answer

We like how our exterior door looks with a simple coat of linseed oil but want to protect it further. Can a clear Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector be applied on top of wood previously treated with linseed oil? Is there a time period to wait since the linseed oil was first applied or would this product not be compatible with linseed oil? Thanks in advance! View answer

I need to stain joists that I will be using to rebuild part of my deck. The boards are pressure-treated 6X10s that have been cut into four-foot lengths. All the info I can find online about preparing lumber so that stain will adhere to it recommends toxic products. Everything I read says that if you don't prepare the boards the stain won't adhere. That is a particular problem since I live at 9,000 feet in Colorado where we have bitter, snowy winters. Is there something you have that I can use to prepare pressure-treated boards for staining that does not contain toxic chemicals? View answer

I am extremely chemical sensitive so I am unable to use any stains or finishes with VOCs. I need to redo my hardwood floors as well as trim. Your Monocoat sounds like a godsend for me. My problem is, my wife likes at least a semi-gloss shine. Is there any way to use the Monocoat and the Universal Maintenance Oil to get a higher shine? I told her about the satin but she doesn't think that will be enough. View answer

I was wondering how would this product react on brand new western cedar walls and ceiling? Would the product stop the wood from discoloration from aging? Cedar in particular changes color dramatically with time so I was wondering how would a white color monocoat finish look on cedar after a 1-5 years? View answer
