I am looking for a matte finish. In two places for the AFM Safecoat, it notes that if you want a satin finish, you need to add one base coat of gloss first. But in a third place it notes the same applies for a matte finish. So, which is it? And furthermore, why is that? Seems like a lot of money to spend for a quart of Gloss that I'll barely need and will probably never come close to finishing. Thanks for your response. View answer

We are a botanic design company in NYC and have a question regarding the safety of this product for use as a waterproof liner for wooden planters. We use custom-fabricated wooden planters for many of our large projects that must be sealed in order to waterproof the interior for planting and watering in an indoor environment. Can you please let me know if the product would be safe to use in this manner having no adverse affect on the plants' health over time? Fingers crossed...Thanks in advance! View answer

Hi! I'm looking to seal some pet-smelly particle board "subfloors" from the 80s. The particle board is pretty long-term smelly, so we wanna make sure whatever we do to seal them works thoroughly. We did BINZ shellac on the subfloor in 2 rooms and it worked great. I'm not looking forward to doing more shellac, but I'll do it if it is what will work best. Would you say this safeseal product could be used *in place of* the shellac on top of the particle board or would safeseal be something to put on top of the shellac? Thanks! View answer

We are considering purchasing a home that was newly constructed (9 months ago), however the VOCs are still pungent. The house is tile except for the bedrooms, which are carpet. I have used safe coat for carpet with great success, however I am wondering if there are other products we could use in the house to further decrease the VOCs What would you suggest? View answer

I have an oriental wool rug that dates back to 1945 from Japan. It was close to 6 inches thick tight weave. It is now slower to 2 inches thick. One solid color but now has stains from household spills and medication.. Do you think your product could work on this type of carpet? The weave is still in great shape no wear spots. View answer

I bought clear ChemLink general purpose sealant for my bathroom to caulk between the wall and the bathtub, but I am wondering if it is really translucent because I don't want to see the crack between tile wall and bathtub. is there a version of this that is white? I want something that will last, not mold/mildew, and not smell (be as least toxic as possible). View answer

I am extremely chemical sensitive so I am unable to use any stains or finishes with VOCs. I need to redo my hardwood floors as well as trim. Your Monocoat sounds like a godsend for me. My problem is, my wife likes at least a semi-gloss shine. Is there any way to use the Monocoat and the Universal Maintenance Oil to get a higher shine? I told her about the satin but she doesn't think that will be enough. View answer
