In our manufactured home we had to remove carpet due to pets. I then painted our stained subfloors. In painting our master & spare bedroom floors, I put primer down on both subfloors and ALSO painted walls, baseboards and floors. I have both rooms sealed off as best as I can because of strong smell. During/after painting, the smell got so bad, it gave me an instant headache (I wore a respirator for vapors, which made sickness even worse). Can I paint over these toxic VOC paints? It sounds like I can seal in the strong odors. I would like to order your paint swatches quickly so that I can decide on a color. Could you please let me know which color swatches can be used on floor paint? I am assuming the AFM Safecoat swatches/paint for floors.

Yes. We get these questions all the time. For your walls, we recommend going over your toxic paint job with AFM Safecoat Transitional Primer and AFM Zero VOC Paints. These 2 products will work in tandem to seal in chemical off-gassing from the paint you have previously put down on your walls. For your floors, as these are already painted, you can just go over this with AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP. This one product by itself will help seal in chemical off-gassing for your floors, and provide you with a durable, abrasion-resistant finish. With a caveat - these coatings work very well at sealing chemical off-gassing, but will not do much to seal organic smells like pet urine. If your subfloor is saturated with urine, your best bet would be to replace it entirely and get a fresh start.AFM has two swatch books to choose from. AFM Color Swatch Book and the Ayurveda Color Swatch Book.
