Just purchased a display model redwood high-end play set for our kiddo, by Woodplay. We need to clean it, stain it and then seal it. The factory stain has rubbed off in a bunch of places and looks bad. We want non-toxic, no VOCs (or at least very low). What's the best way to clean mold off the end of redwood timber? Any and all help will be welcome!

Because this has some mold, we will assume it is for outdoor use. First, clean off the existing mold with our HydroxiPro PowerSafe, which is a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaner. Allow the solution to sit for a minimum of 10 minutes to kill the mold. Clean and let dry overnight. Then apply two coats (wet on wet--see instructions) of our Vermont Natural Coatings Polywhey Exterior Stain, which is a water-based, ultra low-VOC stain and sealer all in one. It comes in 5 colors and does an excellent job of protecting the wood outdoors from sun and moisture. It also creates a slight sheen on the surface that makes it easier to clean and inhibits mold.
