As much as it's not a fun thought, new paint jobs always do better over fresh primer. You'll want to make sure you have a very clean surface before applying new finishes. You'll also want to be sure the current paint isn't oil based as our products aren't meant to stick to that aside of one. AFM Transitional Primer is the only product we sell formulated to be able to stick to oil based paint. So, if the current paint is oil based, you would have to prime with that first and then paint.
