Depending upon what type and amount of texture, most drywall professionals simply apply a thick version of drywall joint compound with a high nap textured roller or trowel. There are numerous youtube videos on how to do this with normal tools. There are some companies that make textured drywall mud for this purpose but regardless of your technique, the ECOS Wall Primer and 2 coats of Interior Wall and Ceiling paint will finish it off safely and beautifully.
