It can go either way really. If you think that you may ever change the cabinetry layout of your rooms, it can be nice to completely cover the floor with the Marmoleum, so that you have more freedom to change a room layout in the future. Often times people install a floor around cabinets if they have no choice, if they move into a home and put in a new floor but are keeping their cabinets. Since you have the choice, it usually makes more sense to lay the floor over the entire room.
