I would usually apply an oil-based paint on the woodwork for durability and washability. Is this paint comparable in that regard?

Yes, for the woodwork, we recommend the semi-gloss finish. It is highly durable and washable for trim and is non-toxic. We have not done any long term testing side by side with oil-based products, so we can't say how it compares, but have never had complaints about its performance over the past 25 years.
