If you suspect that your paint has lead, first test it with our Lead in Paint Test Kit. If your existing enamel paint is oil-based, it will require our ECOS universal primer and two coats of ECOS zero VOC semi-gloss paint. You may also use our AFM Transitional Primer and then two coats of AFM Safecoat Zero VOC semi-gloss paint. Primers may not be required if your enamel is water based. Trim paints are generally semi-gloss because they provide better abrasion and moisture resistance and they clean up easier. Both products have virtually no odor once dried, and do not emit any hazardous airborne pollutants.
