This is a "penetrating" Water Proofer which means the surface must be porous enough to penetrate. If there is a previous coating or stain or finish, it may prevent this product from soaking into the wood. You may need to sand the surface to open the pores before application. Samples are available on our website for testing color, porosity and your own sensitivity.
