We suggest you use Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey Exterior Stain keeping in mind pressure treated wood should sit for 6 months to a year before application. However, I don't know that a stain will cover that writing. I'm guessing only a solid stain would cover that writing. Your best bet is to order a small sample online of what your interested in and try it over some of the writing to see. Other than going to something solid, I'd then say perhaps you can lightly sand that writing off.
