Vermont Natural Coatings Exterior Penetrating Water Proofer will certainly protect the wood from normal exterior moisture. However, it is not designed to be exposed to damp earth 24/7. For that type of application we recommend our AFM Dynoseal which works very well below grade on foundation walls and raised garden beds. It protect wood from leaching into the soil. It should work for this application too. Dynoseal has a very dark bronze color and is applied like paint. Two coats will protect your wood for many years to come.
