Vermont water proofer would be okay to use on your stripped and sanded to raw wood deck, BUT there is a BIG caveat that the wood will have no UV protection. The deck will continue to look and act like raw wood, it will grey and age in the sun. It will be waterproof (water will bead on the surface, rather than soaking into the wood), but that is all it will be. Based on the degree of sun exposure, you will need to recoat every 2-4 years. If you have no issue with this, then you could use it on your deck.If you would like longer protection against UV rays and water, we would recommend a stain with pigment; we carry Vermont PolyWhey Exterior Stain or Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector. The pigment within the stain will protect the deck against UV rays, and both of these stains also waterproof the deck. Based on sun exposure, you can go between 3-6 years before reapplying. If you want even longer-lasting UV protection, we recommend exterior paint. The downside of that is it would cover the wood texture and look, but the upside is you could go at least a decade before repainting.
