Vermont Natural Coatings (VNC) Penetrating Water Proofer is a non-toxic exterior sealer for raw wood: wood siding, fences, outdoor furniture, and most other outdoor wood surfaces. So, if it is a raw wood door, you should be fine. Here are their application instructions: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/core/media/media.nl?id=2024823&c=772072&h=E

Also, it is best to order small samples online to test first.NOTE: While this waterproofer is great at waterproofing wood, it gives no UV protection and no abrasion resistance. So your wood door will grey naturally as it ages. If you want to protect your door from UV rays, you can apply an exterior stain instead or go with an exterior grade paint for the most protection.
