I just bought a planter stand that is made of meranti wood treated with teak oil. What would be best to protect the planter stand from water and sun?

Teak oil should be sufficient to protect the wood from water, but probably not sun unless there are some pigments used. It's the pigment that blocks the UV best. The VNC PolyWhey Ext. Stain can only be used 6mos or 1 year after the oil has completely dried. If used before then, it may not penetrate properly nor adhere well. It's always best to purchase a small sample from our website and test this out.
