Marmoleum sheeting is highly water resistant especially when used with their Sustain 1195 adhesive which can handle 11 lbs of hydrostatic pressure and 95% relative humidity. Marmoleum used to be used on the decks of battleships in world war I and II. It can take a great deal of punishment, but large 90 lb dogs can scratch it if their nails are not trimmed. However, unlike vinyl, Marmoleum is repairable simply by buffing out the surface. Marmoleum is also naturally hygienic because it is antimicrobial--bacteria and viruses will not grow on the surface which is why it is used extensively in hospitals and schools.
