Yes, provided that acrylic paint is not flaking or peeling, water-based, and not a glossy sheen.If the acrylic paint is oil-based, you would need to prime it with a transitional primer, such as AFM Safecoat Transitional Primer. The Transitional Primer is that in-between step that makes painting over an oil-based paint surface possible with water-based paint (as water and oil do not mix).If the acrylic paint is flaking or peeling, you would need to remove all the flaking and peeling paint with a scraper and a sander. Putting a fresh layer of paint over flaking paint means that the fresh layer will just flake and peel also.If the acrylic is a semi-gloss or gloss sheen, you should lightly abrade that surface with sandpaper to degloss it before painting over. Deglossing creates teeth that the fresh paint can grip and bond onto.
