Bioshield Hard Oil #9 is a highly durable natural oil that becomes harder with age. Over time and with high traffic there will be areas of wear which become dull and in need of re-finishing. In this case, simply applying more Hard Oil will be sufficient. However, the other areas of the floor which are not as worn, i.e. not as porous, may require a light sanding so that the finish is even throughout the floor. One more important point: Tung oil has a strong odor that can last a long time. It requires strong ventilation to remove the off-gassing. While Bioshield has a mild odor, it is not as strong and dissipates quickly. The VOC content is 250 g/liter in the Hard Oil compared to the 350 g/l in the Waterlox.
