If you know you have potential water issues, we now recommend using our WaterProof cork flooring. There is no good reason to use the standard cork flooring in those situations, now that we offer the WaterProof version.Even though we have installed regular cork flooring in basements, kitchens and rec rooms, over the past 22 years without many issues; one must be mindful of the fact that it has a high density fiber core and when wet it can expand and cause buckling issues. Spills simply need to be attended to quickly. The backing of regular cork flooring is a thin layer of agglomerated cork which can absorb moisture too without harm to the flooring as long as it can be dried out.
