Dampness can be caused in two ways: 1) via hydrostatic pressure, i.e. ground water that builds up on clay soil and is sucked upwards through the slab. 2) via condensation where damp air condenses on colder concrete. Our GBS Penetrating Concrete Sealer can be used to prevent #1 but it will not stop #2. Our DriTac Golden Bullet adhesive is also designed to help mitigate moisture intrusion from #1. Cork flooring is a good insulator by nature and and will inhibit cold thermal temperatures from moving towards the surface through the cork thereby preventing condensation (#2). Our QuiteWalk Plus underlayment will also help prevent condensation if used underneath any floating floor.Cork flooring that is glued down will generally not be very breathable due to the glue. However, the traditional floating cork floors will be more breathable.
