Bioshield Clay paint was designed for either new drywall or over existing paint. Two coats are recommended. Clay paint can be applied over wood provided that the wood is clean, dry and not not oily like teak. We recommend priming the wood first with either AFM Transitional Primer or ECOS Wood Primer.Clay Paint is not suited for frequent cleaning. Grease and other contaminants may remain embedded in the paint. For extra protection in high-impact areas such as hallways and kitchens, we recommend using BioShield Wall Glaze #15: sprayed, sponged, or otherwise applied (not rolled!) over a Clay Paint surface. For bathrooms Clay Paint can only be used in low-impact areas and areas that do not receive regular water exposure (such as around showers and sinks.) In normal living environments, Clay Paints have moisture regulating and odor reducing properties and they provide optimum breathability.Clay Paints are low-odor, non-toxic, no-VOC.Coverage: 300-400 square feet per gallon, depending upon surface texture, porosity and method of application.
