I have a fireplace that is decorated with coarse stone surface. It costs a lot to remove the stones. Can I simply layer this clay paint over it to cover it up? Because the surface is not flat, the clay paint will be as thick as a quarter of an inch in some spots. Will it work? Thank you.

Bioshield Clay Paint is a thick paint but nothing like the thickness of plaster and will not build up 1/4". You might want to consider using some patching compounds made of portland cement to smooth out the surface. Then it can be painted with our AFM Concrete Floor Paint or ECOS Porch Paint.
