Bioshield Clay paint is self priming, however, professional paints always recommend priming a surface prior to application especially if the surface is new drywall, porous, or in need of repair. Primers also help hide dark colors well. Two coats of clay paint are always recommended with a normal 3/8" nap roller. There is ultra low odor, zero VOCs and the finish is a beautiful matte finish. Not recommended for bathrooms or kitchens with high moisture. Use AFM WaterShield to seal those areas if desired.
