This is a penetrating waterproofer, it has no topical finish so the raw wood you apply this to will continue to look unfinished and raw. It will only be apparent that the wood is treated if it gets wet, and water will bead on the surface rather than soaking into the wood. As such, there is no sheen whatsoever, no abrasion resistance, and no UV protection. As this is a penetrating product, you need to make sure your raw wood is in a porous state. You can test this by flinging some water droplets onto the wood, if water soaks in, the wood is able to accept Penetrating Water Proofer, if not, you will need to open up the pores via sanding.Samples are available for testing purposes as well.
