No. Vermont Natural Coatings with Polywhey is a penetrating stain and sealer all in one, it will not work with a pre-existing stain. If you wish to coat your stained coffee table, we would advise you to use a topical sealer to preserve the color you are working hard to create. AFM Safecoat Poly EXT Exterior Polyureseal Clear will seal and provide abrasion resistance to your table, it is non Toxic and very low VOC.
